Horizontal forehead grooves are caused by contraction of the frontalis muscle and elevation of the eyebrows. As well as frown lines, these lines are also associated with a tired, stressed and concerned appearance which worsens with age.
Dynamic forehead lines (caused by forehead muscle contractions) can be treated with Botulinum toxin injections (Botox). Injecting Botox will also help eliminating static lines (present in absence of muscle contractions). Static wrinkles can be caused by sun damage, skin ageing, smoking and by long term dynamic lines that become permanent.
Injecting Botox prevents existing wrinkle getting deeper and can also prevent the development of new wrinkles if treated at a younger age.
Treating forehead and frown lines at the same time has excellent results and our recommendation is to treat these two areas together.
