Anti-Wrinkle Injections

If you are looking for a quick and easy way to roll back the clock of your appearance, you don’t have to look much further than Botox anti-wrinkle injections. Although new procedures and treatments are introduced almost daily, Botulinum toxin injections still remain the gold standard in wrinkle treatment. The treatment is very quick and has no downtime or recovery time which makes it the most popular “Lunch Break” cosmetic treatment.

Botox anti-wrinkle injections are the most popular and the most effective aesthetic treatments in the world for both women and men.

Botulinum toxin is a natural purified protein derived from the bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum. Botulinum toxin is divided into 7 serotypes by their differences in potency and duration of action. The most potent of the serotypes which are used in cosmetic industry, Botulinum toxin type A, was first developed in 1970-80s for treatment of blepharospasm and strabismus. Botulinum toxin injections were then FDA (USA) approved in 1989 and have been used in the cosmetic industry ever since.

In our clinic, we only use the best products on the market so for anti-wrinkle treatments we use Allergan (Botox) and Xeomin botulinum toxin injections.

Anti-wrinkle injections block muscular nerve signals and reduce muscle contractions that cause fine lines and wrinkles. Any motion they do have is not noticeable, consequently treated areas have smooth and less wrinkle appearance.

These fine lines often cause people to be misinterpreted as tired, anxious or angry even though they are not. In fact, every facial expression can unwillingly lead to one of the most visible ageing signs – wrinkles.

Botox anti-wrinkle injections are not only used for treating facial wrinkles. Advanced aesthetic practitioners like Dr Matic are capable of eyebrow shaping, jawline contouring (bruxism), smoothing the neck lines and treating excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Furthermore, in combination with dermal fillers, you can actually achieve a complete non-surgical facelift.

Botulinum toxin is a natural purified protein derived from the bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum. It has been used in the aesthetic industry for more than 30 years and is considered to be one of the safest treatments in aesthetic medicine. Botulinum toxin injections are injected topically in specific areas and do not spread to any other parts of the body.

It is very important to choose an aesthetic doctor well trained and experienced in Botulinum toxin injections.

Botox anti-wrinkle injections are primarily used for skin rejuvenation and the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles so it can be used on a wide range of patients. Many people choose to have fine lines and wrinkle treatments to look fresher, less tired, less stressed and simply younger.
Botox injections work best on “dynamic” wrinkles, lines formed when certain facial expressions are made. If not treated, those lines will become static lines etched into the skin. This is the reason why Botox anti-wrinkle treatments are also used as a preventive treatments because it is better to prevent wrinkles rather than having to deal with them as and when they appear.

Treatment should not be carried out if there is an infection in the area you would like to treat or if you are known to have hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to Botulinum toxin type A or to any of its’ excipients.

Furthermore, those who have neurological medical conditions such as ALS, MS or Lambert-Eaton syndrome should disclose it during consultations to avoid complications.

Botox anti-wrinkle treatments are also not recommended to those who are pregnant or breastfeeding and those who are taking aminoglycoside antibiotics because it can enhance neuromuscular weakness caused by Botulinum toxin.

The consultations take place before the treatment to discuss all aspects of the treatment and are free of charge.

Nowadays, men are very aware of the way they look and, same as women, they just want to look their best. BroTox, anti-wrinkle injections for men, are exactly the same treatment as the anti-wrinkle injections that many women undergo to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles.

Although the stigma still exists, it is definitely getting more accepted. Over the last decade BroTox has exploded in popularity and according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, over 400,000 men received Botulinum toxin injections in 2014, marking an astounding 337 per cent increase since 2000.
The goal for many men isn’t to look younger but to look better, more attractive, more rested and fitter. There are several reasons for the increase in BroTox popularity.

Men aren’t immune to the ageing process. With changing societal norms and shifting focuses, women aren’t the only ones who wish to reverse the hands of time and look a little younger and more energized.

Furthermore, the job market is becoming more and more competitive and many studies have shown that there is a direct link between one’s physical appearance and his or her career success.

On the other hand, on a more personal level, BroTox can boost their self-confidence and have a positive effect on their overall happiness and quality of life.

Muscles in men are larger and stronger than in women so men often require a higher dose of Botox.

Considering there are 43 muscles in the face, it is vital that the person injecting botulinum toxin is familiar with facial anatomy.

The number of injections depends on the number of areas treated and the treatment itself lasts 5-10 minutes. Before the treatment photos will be taken of the areas which will be treated. The treatment is almost painless so we do not routinely use any numbing cream. You may feel a slight stinging or burning sensation during the treatment. The wrinkle-producing muscles are identified and injected through an ultra-tiny needle which weakens the injected muscles and erases wrinkles preserving natural facial expressions.
First results are visible in 3-7 days and the maximum effect is 2 weeks after the treatment.

If necessary, a top-up can be done 2 weeks after the treatment when we normally have a follow up with our clients.

Botox effect usually lasts 3-4 months when the treatment can be repeated.

The first results after having anti-wrinkle injections will be noticeable in 3-7 days after the treatment. The full effect will be in 2 weeks after the treatment when we normally schedule a follow up to see if there is any need for a top up. Botox effect usually lasts 3-4 months after which you can receive subsequent injections to maintain the desired smooth, youthful and well-rested appearance.
People who have regular anti-wrinkle injections can have more lasting results. If you decide to stop having anti-wrinkle injections, your face will go back to the original state as it was before you started having treatments because as muscles regain their strength their movements return to normal and lines reoccur in their previous positions.

There is no downtime or recovery time after having Botulinum toxin injections so you can continue normal activities immediately.

There are no long-term side effects after having anti-wrinkle injections. After the treatment, you may notice some redness, minor swelling, bruising or numbness around injection sites. However, these symptoms are minor and should resolve in few days following the procedure.

Other side effects that can happen are headaches, forehead heaviness and flu-like symptoms which should also resolve within few days.

It is important not to rub or massage the treated areas because it can cause the Botulinum toxin to migrate to another area of your face. If this happens, you could end up having temporary facial weakness or drooping eyelid.

We have a personalised approach to every client and are guided by “Less is more” cosmetic approach so you do not end up having “frozen” look if you do not want it. Natural appearance is obtained by using lower dose of Botulinum toxin which then allows subtle facial movement of the treated area.

The simplicity of Botulinum toxin anti-wrinkle injections with no downtime or recovery time (initial small amount of swelling and redness around the injected area subsides after 15-20 minutes) makes it a true “Lunch Break” cosmetic treatment after which you can normally go back to work without anyone noticing you had anything done.

We normally like to see all of our patients 2 weeks after the treatment to assess the treatment outcome and to do a top up if necessary.

After the treatment, you will be given specific post-treatment instructions.

  • Avoid massaging, rubbing or touching treated areas. Massaging treated areas increases the risk of Botulinum toxin spreading from the treated area and causing unwanted effects.
  • Avoid makeup for 3-4 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid high-intensity exercise for at least 48h after the treatment.
  • Avoid facial treatments for at least 3 days after the injections.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24h after the treatment.
  • Avoid sun and heat exposures (sauna, steam rooms, hot shower/bath) for at least 48h after the treatment.
  • Remain upright for at least 4 hours after the treatment and try sleeping on your back the night after the treatment.
  • Avoid using deodorant for 24 hours if you had Botulinum toxin injections to axilla because of excessive sweating.
  • Exercise the injected muscles after the treatment so please smile and frown a lot after the treatment.
  • In case of bruising use cold compress or Arnica cream.

The anti-wrinkle injection treatment cost depends on the number of areas treated and the Botox dose. Please check our pricelist section to see our pricelist.
