Frown or glabellar lines are vertical lines between and above eyebrows as a result of frowning, associated with negative emotions such as anger, stress, tiredness and frustration. These vertical lines are caused by contractions of the glabellar complex muscles which draw the eyebrows together and pull downwards.
Injecting these muscles with Botox creates fresh, more positive and relaxed appearance.
Frown area muscles (procerus and corrugator muscles) and forehead muscle (m. frontalis) act as antagonists (opposing muscles) so it is recommended to treat forehead and frown lines at the same time to get the best results.
