The term “Nefertiti Lift” derives from the Egyptian Queen Nefertiti famous for her beauty and her long neck.
With ageing, loss of subcutaneous fat and muscle tone around the jawline and the neck results with sagging skin and gives the appearance of “Turkey Neck”. When platysma muscle is contracted (covers anterior and lateral parts of the neck), it creates vertical bands which can become more prominent with time.
The platysma muscle can be injected with small and superficial doses of Botox along the visible platysmal bands and beneath the jawline. This softens the appearance of the platysmal bands and slightly lifts the jawline skin up resulting in a subtle nonsurgical facelift.
This treatment is not suitable for individuals with skin laxity or excess localized fat in the neck.
